How to Layer Fragrance Without Overwhelming a Room
Share
More fragrance is not always more atmosphere. A room can lose its character just as easily by having two scents compete as by having none at all. Here is a simple way to think about layering.
Start with one scent, not several
If you are new to a fragrance system like ReVerre™, resist the urge to run more than one Candle Pearls scent in the same room at the same time. Let a single fragrance define the space first. You will notice its character more clearly, and you will know exactly what to change if it is not quite right.
Let a room breathe between changes
Open a window for a few minutes before switching scents, especially in a smaller room. A slightly reset space lets a new fragrance register properly instead of blending into what was there before.
Match intensity to the space
A larger room can carry a stronger scent without feeling heavy. A smaller room, a bedroom especially, usually asks for restraint: a smaller fill, or a scent from the softer end of the ReVerre™ range, such as Serenade or Sanctuary.
When two scents actually work together
Layering across rooms, rather than within one, is the easier version to get right: a fresher scent like Awakening near an entry, something warmer like Embrace further into the home. The two rarely meet in the air, so there is nothing to compete.
The simplest rule
If you cannot tell what a room smells like anymore, that is usually a sign to simplify, not add. Read the full ReVerre™ Scent Guide or choose a single scent to start with.
