How Long Should a Refill Last? Reading Burn Time
Share
Burn time is one of the first practical questions people ask about a refillable format, and it is a fair one. Here is how to think about it.
What the sizes roughly mean
ReVerre™ Candle Pearls come in 250 g, 500 g and 1,000 g. As a rough guide, larger fills last proportionally longer than smaller ones, based on how much material is in the vessel. Actual time will vary with your vessel, your wick, how long each session runs, and airflow in the room.
Short sessions add up differently than long ones
Several short 20 to 30 minute sessions will not use the pearls at the same rate as one long evening burn, because a candle needs time to form a full melt pool before it is burning efficiently. If you tend to light a candle for a few minutes at a time, expect a fill to last a little differently than the estimate suggests.
A more even burn, session to session
Let the flame establish a melt pool that reaches close to the edge of the vessel before putting it out, when you can. This helps prevent the pearls from tunnelling down the middle, which is what usually shortens the useful life of a fill.
When it is time to refill
Once the level of pearls is low and the scent has faded, let the vessel cool completely, then prepare it according to the care instructions before adding a new ReVerre™ fill.
