VaraGaan faceted glass vessel, size L

What We Look For When We Design a VaraGaan™ Vessel

A VaraGaan™ vessel has two jobs: hold a candle safely, and be worth keeping once the candle is finished. Those two requirements shape most of the decisions behind it.

Proportion before anything else

A vessel that looks right empty, before any wax or flame, is one we consider to have earned its place on a shelf. We look at how it sits relative to the objects likely to be near it: a book, a plant, a lamp, rather than designing it in isolation.

Faceted glass for a reason

The faceted surface is not purely decorative. It catches ambient daylight differently through the day, and once lit, it breaks the flame's light into smaller points rather than one flat glow. The same object reads differently in the morning than in the evening.

Three sizes, three roles

S, M and L are not simply "small, medium, large" versions of the same idea. S is built for a bedside table or a shelf where a smaller presence is right. M is designed as an everyday size for most rooms. L is meant to hold its own in a larger space, a living room or a dining table, where a smaller object would disappear.

Designed to be handled, not just displayed

Weight, the width of the opening, and how easily a vessel can be cleaned and refilled all factor into the design, because a vessel that is a hassle to refill will eventually just be a display piece rather than something in regular use.
